Regional Emergency Management Technical Advisory Committee (REMTAC)

In 1998 the Regional Emergency Management Technical Advisory Committee was formed as an advisory technical committee to the HRPDC Board, similar to the other technical advisory committees at the HRPDC in the transportation and physical planning departments. A Primary and Alternate member was selected from each of the 16 localities served by the Comission, along with VDEM and other invited guests as needed. Its activities are driven each year by the HRPDC Unified Planning Work Program and includes planning for natural and manmade disasters that may occur in the region. REMTAC activities vary diversely, especially in the post 9/11 world, but include storm or man-made debris management, public education, communications interoperability, special needs planning and other activities. REMTAC meets monthly, and works together to help strengthen Emergency Management within the region.
